HomeActinic Keratoses or Solar Keratoses (Sun Spots)
RECOMMENDED FOR ROUGH, DRY, OR SUN-DAMAGED SKIN PATCHES
Actinic Keratoses / Solar Keratoses (Sun Spots)
Actinic Keratoses, also known as Solar Keratoses or Sun Spots, are precancerous lesions caused by years of ultraviolet (UV) exposure. These patches develop when repeated sun damage triggers abnormal changes in the skin’s surface cells. While not all Sun Spots progress to cancer, a portion can evolve into Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC), making early identification and treatment essential. They most often appear on areas with the highest lifetime sun exposure, such as the face, scalp, ears, neck, forearms and hands.
Targeted Clinical Evaluation of Sun-Damaged Skin
We begin with a thorough inspection of all affected and high-risk areas to identify Actinic Keratoses and early precancerous changes.
Identification of pink, red, or skin-coloured lesions
Detection of lesions that fluctuate with sun exposure
Review of cumulative sun damage and personal risk factors
Know More About Us
Advanced Dermoscopic and Texture-Based Assessment
Assessment
Dermoscopy allows us to examine surface structures and subtle patterns that help distinguish Actinic Keratoses from other skin conditions.
Treatment Planning and Lesion-Specific Management
Treatment Planning
Because Actinic Keratoses vary in severity and behaviour, our treatment plans are tailored to each patient’s clinical presentation.
Ongoing Monitoring and Sun-Safety Guidance
Guidance
Actinic Keratoses signal significant sun damage and a higher likelihood of future skin cancers, making long-term care essential.
